Step 3: A sleep practitioner analyzes the sleep data and will provides a prescription if warranted.

This package is designed for people ages 18 and older who are experiencing sleep difficulties and are at risk of moderate to severe sleep apnea.
In particular, anyone who has any of these symptoms may need to be tested for undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea:
- Snorts, snores, moans, gasps, or pauses breathing while sleeping
- Experiencing chronic fatigue, headaches, or daytime drowsiness

General
Sleep Care online uses WatchPAT ONE E, the latest in cutting-edge technology. This reliable and accurate sleep testing device has two points of contact and is simple to use. Download the corresponding app to watch a step-by-step video on how to set up and record your data while wearing the device. When ready to sleep, simply do the following:
- Strap on the WatchPAT ONE E home sleep apnea test bracelet to your non-dominate hand.
- Place the probe on your finger.
- Turn on the recording.
The WatchPat One E collects information on six different factors: peripheral arterial tone (PAT signal), heart rate, oximetry (blood oxygen level), actigraphy (gross motor activity), body position, and snoring. All collected data is transmitted via the cloud and study results are available the following morning.
The device also connects to a smartphone app (available for iOS or Android) and integrated cloud-based analysis software for analysis. Please note, this product does not include the chest sensor.
Each device is disposable after one night’s use. This disposable feature greatly reduces the possibility of contamination.
WatchPAT ONE E is FDA-cleared and has been clinically validated in multiple trials.

Equipment
The disposable WatchPat ONE E is simple to set up and use! Your device will come with instructions on how to download the corresponding app. Once you open your app, there is a video with step-by-step instructions on how to wear the device and how to start the recording prior to going to bed. Simply strap the wrist device on your non-dominant hand’s wrist and place the finger probe on your index finger. Please note, this product does not use a chest sensor. Turn on the app and push “Start Recording” before you go to bed and that’s all. Turn the app off in the morning and your data will be compiled and ready for review.

Prescription and PAP Equipment
Yes, a prescription is required for a home sleep apnea test (HSAT) from a doctor who has a license in the state in which you reside. During your initial 10-minute telehealth appointment, our healthcare provider will discuss symptoms and determine if you are a candidate for a sleep study. When they sign off on your sleep study, we will mail you the WatchPat One E and you can begin your sleep test.
Telehealth
Fifteen minutes before your appointment, you will receive a text message with a link to a Zoom meeting. At the time of your appointment, click the link and you will be in a waiting room. Once the healthcare practitioner is available, you will be accepted into the virtual exam room. Your appointment will cover symptoms, what to expect with testing, what the results could mean, and the next steps after a diagnosis.

I would like to give a detailed description of what happened and why I am giving a top rating. I have to say I was leery of the process, but it worked very well. There was another website which charged $130 less for the sleep test. At first I was told that it could be done in my state and then was told it couldn’t be. I decided to pay the $130 extra and am very pleased I did. The sleep test took place over 3 nights, as opposed to 1 night for the other site. The NightOwl test was easy to take – you only had to tape a small device slightly bigger than a fingernail to one of your fingers. It doesn’t provide as much information as a test which uses chest monitors and nasal inputs, but with the new automatic cpap machines, you don’t need all that additional information. (You can try to find on line the NIH study on the NightOwl test – it was positive about it.) I was able to schedule the telemed appt very easily. When I had to change the appt, I contacted the company and it was changed no problem. Starting the telemed appt was easy. You go to the website on your phone, sign in and then wait until you get a notice on the phone that the doc was waiting for you. Click and the doc magically appears. The doc had my test results in front of him. The appt lasted about 5 minutes. As I have 3 good friends who have cpap machines and I had discussed it in detail with them, I didn’t have many questions for the doc. The next morning (the doc appt was the night before) the test results and prescription for the cpap machine was emailed to me. I decided to try the company that was recommended for purchasing the machine. I was afraid that their prices were going to be much higher than what I saw on other sites. I was provided a special phone number for a rep who dealt only with customers from Sleeponline.com. I wasn’t sure if the number was accurate, but I left a message and got a call back. Anna, their Sleeponline.com rep, was terrific. They already had my prescription so I didn’t have to e-mail it in. I knew what machine I wanted as I had done some serious research before. She said that it was a very good machine. We went over choice for masks and I liked her recommendations – there was a fitting issue because I have a full beard and mustache. She said I didn’t need some accessories that I inquired about and make some suggestions for some that I didn’t know about and which I got. The prices were very, very good. All in all, I am very happy that I went with Sleeponline.com and their recommendation as to where to buy the machine. I honestly was kind of skeptical at first because I thought there would be no way they would be able to test accurately, but after doing some independent research. I did see the device they use NightOwl by Ectosense, and all the peer reviewed research papers did show it being well within acceptable levels. I received the device, and the setup was super simple. It just tapes to the tip of your finger. After three nights of use, I waited for my appointment, and I was given all the information online about what it recorded, and then I was given a prescription and some recommendations for a CPAP. Overall, it is WELL worth the $300 out of pocket. The fact that going to a actual sleep lab is so much more expensive even with insurance makes this well worth.
