How Does A Home Sleep Study Work?

An at-home sleep apnea test was designed to test patients for sleep apnea in their own homes, providing convenience and comfort, along with other benefits as well. After ordering your sleep test, it will be sent to you in the mail. Follow all the instructions on how to set it up, and fall asleep as you normally would. What Makes a Home Sleep Study Worth It?

When you sleep, the muscles in your neck and chest relax. Relaxing your neck muscles can shorten the airway and disrupt respiration if you have sleep apnea. A home sleep apnea test is a tiny sensor that is taped to your fingernail to collect sleep data to measure your oxygen levels and respiratory effort through the night.

An at home sleep study is useful for people who suffer from sleep apnea symptoms, such as snoring, sleep choking, dry mouth, tiredness in the daytime, daily headaches, etc. Home sleep tests are preferred to in-lab studies because you are able to complete the sleep study in the comfort of your own bed at a time that works for your schedule. This eliminates the need to find alternative care options for other family members or pets, reduces the chances of incorrect data after spending a night in an unfamiliar bed, and is particularly useful for those who are home-bound, disabled, or elderly.

Plus, a home sleep test costs a fraction of an overnight sleep study in a lab and the results are ready the next morning!
